The public presentation of Cascade of Change: A Decade of Liberal Thoughts, a book, authored by Honourable Steve Ayorinde, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, will take place on Thursday, 23 June, 2016.
The event is billed to hold at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, NIIA, Kofo Abayomi, Victoria Island.
The ELITES gathers that the book presentation is part of activities marking Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s sterling one year in office.
President Mohammadu Buhari is the Special Guest of Honour at the event, which will be chaired by Aremo Olusegun Osoba. The Eleko of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu will be the Royal Father of the Day. The trio of Professor Pat Utomi, Dr. Doyinsola Abiola and Dipo Famakinwa are the keynote discussants for the day.
The Lagos state governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode is the Chief Host of the book presentation.
Ayorinde, a journalist, author, film critic, a multiple-award winning journalist and editor, started his career with Nigeria’s foremost Newspaper The Guardian. He is a former editor of The PUNCH, and is the immediate past Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of National Mirror Newspaper.
A former Vice-President (West) of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, NGE, Ayorinde is a product of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and was also educated at the University of Lagos, Akoka and University of Leicester in the UK where he earned a Masters Degree in Globalization and Communications. Well travelled and a polyglot, Ayorinde is a European Union Fellow at the Foundation Journalists-in-Europe (1997-98 set) – A comprehensive one-year training scheme for mid-career journalists. He is also an alumnus of the prestigious State Department’s International Visitors’ program (IVP) in the United States; Goethe Institute, Berlin and University of Siena for Foreigners, Italy.
Author of two books Masterpieces: A Critic’s Timeless Report (Spectrum Book 2008) and Abokede: The Man, The City, The Hill (ArtPillar Books 2011), Ayorinde is a member of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI). He is also regarded as one of Nigeria’s best renowned film and art critics, who has served on the Juries for some of the world’s most recognised film festivals and awards, such as the Toronto Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival and Mumbai International Film Festival. He is also a foundation Jury member of the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).
