Violence against venerable person including women, is prevalent in Nigeria. in addition to physical, sexual, emotional abuse, many women in Nigeria experience genital mutilation/circumsition forceful ejection from home and other harmful traditional practices stremming from long-head cultural believes.
Many women suffered under this cultural and religiously incline belief. now their husbands are not left out of this maltreatment as in the case of one Mr Olalowo Hammed Olalekan.
From a reliable source gathered that Hammed who got married to Modinat ran away from their matrimonial home with her children when she was asked to bring her daughter for the circumsition, a decision she and her husband objected to as her where about is still unclear as at the time of filling in this report.
Her husband, Hammed, who had been bearing the abuse from family and the community alike was recently attack and left to die.
In a conversation with Hammed, he spoke with our correspondent saying he did not expect to survive the attack due to the massive beating on him when he try to escape from the perpetrators.
According to Hammed, "I thought I die, I was bleeding all over the place with swollen face and cut on my body" the incident Ahmed insisted that he wouldn't want anybody to face similar fate.
"better it was me alone, but if it was my wife or children they may not have survive it," Hammed spoke in a pain voice.
Our reporter who visited Hammed in his hide out saw the stitches along his broken jaw clearly visible.
Narrating how the ugly incident unfolded, Hammed told our reporter that he was on his way home when some men began taunting him for not allowing his daughter for the circumcised and aiding to their disappearance.
Reacting to the incident, a social commentator and human right activist, Barrister Jude Falomo (SAN) describe the act as barbaric as he blame the Nigerian Government for not providing adequate security to its citizens.
Fred said, today it was Hammed who was lucky to be alive, tomorrow it may be another person and it may be worse than this.
