In a bid to assist the North-East Nigerians who continue to face constant attacks
of Boko haram, Nestlé Nigeria has donated products worth two million naira
(2,000,000.00) to support IDPs whom are victims of these crisis.
According to the UN OCHA, there are approximately 14.8 million people directly
affected with hunger and malnutrition challenges; and over 7 million people are
in need of humanitarian activities. Following the request for urgent support from
UN OCHA, stating urgent need of help to these displaced people who suffer on a
daily basis from severe acute malnutrition, lack of accommodation and livelihood,
hunger and violation of human rights, Nestlé Nigeria responded with a swift
action by donating 759 cases of Milo beverage and Golden Morn cereal worth 2
million naira
Speaking at the ceremony formally presenting the food products to the UN OCHA
and Directors of NEMA in Abuja, the MD/CEO Nestlé Nigeria, Chief Dharnesh
Gordhon expressed how pleased he was to be part of the humanitarian service as
he represented Nestlé, the world’s leading Nutrition, Health and Wellness
Company that is deeply committed to alleviating malnutrition in Nigeria.
Receiving the items on behalf of the DG of NEMA Mr. Mohammed Sani Sidi, Mr.
Aliyu Sambo Bafale expressed his gratitude on behalf of all, including the IDPs;
giving his word to ensure that the products get to the beneficiaries.
Chief Dharnesh also beckoned on other leading organizations in the country to
continue to join efforts and render help to the displaced person
