_*...Indiscriminate dumping of earthy materials against environmental law, Saliu warns residents*
As the raining season beckons across the country, Hon. Adeniyi Saliu has approved the immediate desilting of drainages and black spots in various communities across the Local Council Development Area.
The exercise which commenced ealier this week, is expected to be carried out in phases, as Igbooye road, Igbooye, Feko road/Oke Church, Ibonwon, Imokun Road, Imokun, Omola road, Odomola, Abiola Oliwo street, Odo-Egiri and Adegbajo road, Odogbawojo are already desilted, while work is ongoing in some other areas across the communities of the Local Council Development Area.
In this regard, the Council Chief has issued strict warning to residents on indiscriminate dumping of earthy materials, fine sand which are easily carried by running flood and deposited as sediment and due to the deposition, there is problem of drainage blockage or space filling which leads to flooding, thereby causing havoc to various communities and households.
Cleanliness is next to Godliness. Indiscriminate dumping of earthy materials is against environmental law of the land and also detrimental to our safety. Anyone caught in the act shall be duly prosecuted according to law, Saliu warns residents.
This administration is committed to creating an enabling and friendly environment, that everyone can be proud of. Residents are therefore urged to report any emergency case on flooding to the office of Supervisor for Environment, for quick response.
