BANKOLE TAKES GIANT STRIDES IN EDUCATION AS HE GIVES BURSARY/SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

 *Extends succour to the widows*

 Sowing seeds of greatness and touching lives one way or other has always been a tradition and priority of the Executive Chairman, Eti Osa Local Government, Hon Saheed Adesegun Bankole as  he disbursed the sum of #20,000 each as bursary awards to 200 indigent and non indigent students of  tertiary institutions in Eti-Osa.

 He claimed that it is the first time  scholarship awards would be given out to students with outstanding performances in their academic fields in any Local Government of Lagos State.


 Hon Bankole made it known that the 3 receipients of the scholarship awards and infact the bursary awardees were rigorously screened by the Bursary award committee headed by Alhaji  Olukolu.

 The awardees with higher G.P.A's were awarded the sum of Two Hundred Thousand Naira each. The students are:
1) Hikmat Maiyegun .
2) Olayiwola Remilekun.
3) Rufai Olamilekan Saheed.

 The Local Government in an attempt to imbibe the attitude of prudent spending and the need for savings into the subconsciousness  of the students  partnered with Wema Bank and created a personalized bank account and debit card for each recipient of the Bursary award and scholarship, the Wema bank officiala headed by Mrs Kemi Aina, the Cluster Team Lead for Lagos Island Zone were on ground to effect the necessary changes of pin numbera on the card, an act well appreciated by Master Adamson Noah,the President of Eti Osa indigene students Forum as he thanked the Chairman for the kindness and love extended to them like Father and sons, promising to adhere strictly to his words of advice.

The bipartite programme hosted  had its second phase dedicated to the widows. The council Boss extended a hand of care and concern to twenty ( 20)widows by  supporting them  financially with a token sum of Ten Thousand Naira and some edible items to help put a smile on their faces.


The widows program which was themed *" LIGHT THE FADING HOPE OF THE WIDOWS"* had Mrs Abisola Adekoya, a retired Director of NAFDAC who is also a widow as the
Guest Speaker. She gave a talk on life and  expectations of a widow, sighting herself as an example she urged the widows to carry on their lives and build a sustainable business or career path for themselves.
Some philanthropic gestures were also extended towards the cause by some notable dignitaries, worthy of mentioning was the donation of bags of rice and an additional twenty thousand naira each  to the scholarship awardees given by Chief Salisu Elegushi Chairman, Sabitex Hotel.
Hon. Bankole in his magnanimity gave out a book  titled 'Youth Guide For Moral Leadership' By Hon. G.O Sofolahan (IGBARE) to the receipients with the hopind  it would serve as reference point.
He advised them to be proactive and more enthusiastic towards any gestures because it gives credibility to all the efforts put in place either by the government or corporate organizations.  While commending the members of the Legislative and executive arms for their devotion and supports towards moving Eti-Osa to its desired height, the council boss appreciated all the invited guests for honoring the Local Government invites particularly those who   donated generously towards making the program a huge  success.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Secretary to the Local Government Hon. Idowu Badru, showered encomiums on the Executive Chairman lauding his selfless attitude towards the progress of his people. He thereafter advised the students to use the funds given to them judiciously and  craved the indulgence of the widows benefiting from the financial support to bear with the LG and manage what has been given pledging on behalf of the Council to do more subsequently.
Present at the occasion are the Vice Chairman who also displayed her generosity and philanthropic gestures by adding some items to the package given to the Widows, the LGA APC party chairman, Mr.Modiu Shade JP, his vice Alhaji Azeez Esinlokun, some Apex leaders like Alhaji Ologolo, Alh. Jamiu Muibi, Alh.Olukolu,   Leader of the House Honorable Bolaji Ogunderu, Members of the Legislative and Executive council, the Head of Administration, Mr. HIK Buhari, management team, APC party members and others too numerous to mention.
