to ease the stress involved in keeping tax records and ensure an
effective tax administration.

Ogunmilade, in his opening remarks, said that the State Board of
Internal Revenue (BIR) has renewed its relationship with the National
Joint Tax Board (JTB) on TIN registration after the new system of
registration was developed to eliminate the unwanted difficulties in
the old system.

Reiterating the commitment of the Fayemi-led administration to the
development of the State, Ogunmilade stressed the importance of
conforming to the global best practices to achieve the desired
results.

He emphasized that people in the State must support the efforts of
Government to develop the State by paying their taxes regularly adding
that "civilised societies pay taxes to remain civilised".

He urged participant to justify the huge investment to train and
retrain them by making judicious use of the knowledge gained in the
workshop to boost the State IGR.

The Director of ICT of the Federal Inland Revenue Services, Mr. Kola
Okunola who doubles Team Leader of the Joint Task Board of the Chain
Management Sensitization Team noted that the new system of
registration for the TIN would eliminate unhealthy rivalry and
destructive competition between the Federal and the State Revenue
Services and establish constructive collaboration towards achieving
the desired goals.

Mr. Okunola explained that the new system is basically a computer
application that allows the Internal Revenue Service to leverage on
Identity Management Agencies to access information through the
National Identity card or The Bank Verification Number (BVN) and
