Hon Councillor Taiwo Ajibade Oyekan empowerment tools excite constituents

In a renewed effort at youth empowerment, not less than 10  young persons from Lagos Island Local Government Ward C1in Lagos State on Thursday  benefited from an empowerment programme packaged by Hon Alhaji Taiwo Ajibade Oyekan representing the area.

The 10 beneficiaries received empowerment tools including sewing machine, Indomie Tools and Gas,Hairdressing Tools, Generator, under the  1st Youth Empowerment initiated by Hon Taiwo Ajibade Oyekan.

The empowerment tools are to assist in empowering the beneficiaries to jumpstart their entrepreneurial journey and enhance their independence.

In addition,Hon Taiwo Ajibade Oyekan representing WardC1 also gave the beneficiaries of the additional  empowerment materials like sewing machines and generators are being distributed.

Lagos Island Local Government APC Chairman Alhaji AGO Sadiq,including Representative of the Deputy Speaker LSHA Hon Wasiu Eshilokun Sanni,Leader of Legislative Arm of LILG Hon Hakeem Olaiwola Ajose,Chairman of APC WardC1,Including the Initiator of the programme Hon Taiwo Ajibade Oyekan  presented the empowerment tools to the beneficiaries.

Hon Taiwo Ajibade Oyekan Councillor representing WardC1 Constituency in LILG in his opening remarks said that The empowerment tools are part of the Special Interventions programme of the Federal Government through the Sustainable Development Goals Office to assist Councillors in the empowerment programmes of their constituents.

It’s in furtherance of the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government programme in the area of job creation and youth empowerment. Among the flagship programmes of the government in the area of youth empowerment are ‘N Power’ and ‘Market Moni’.


Empowering them will yield further benefits for society when they grow their businesses to employ others and take adequate care of their dependants.

Speaking on her programmes of youth empowerment,Hon Taiwo Ajibade Oyekan Councillor representing WardC1 said: “I have seen the positive transformation that such little effort makes in the lives of our young people. I am calling on other well-meaning people who can do something to contribute towards the upliftment of this group of people in our various communities.

Also, ýa 25-year-old man, Mr  Okunola, who just graduated from a fashion design school, said she had been looking for money to buy sewing machine so that he could start his own business.

He said: “I am so excited that I am one of the beneficiaries of these sewing machines. This will go a long way in reshaping my future in the area of fashion designing.

“I am a graduate but since all of us cannot get white-collar jobs, I have decided to learn fashion designing. I graduated three months ago but I don’t have money to start the business.

“I thank Hon Taiwo Ajibade Oyekan  for remembering us in this constituency and this sewing machine would relief me of lots of burden.”
