Parents, graduands, leaders, party faithfuls, well wishers and good people of Eredo Local Council Development Area defied  the rains yesterday, as they thronged to the Council Secretariat for the graduation and empowerment ceremony of Youths sponsored by the administration of Hon. Adeniyi Saliu the Executive Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area, on six 6 month industrial and vocational training at the Nigeria Opportunities Industrialization Centre, Gbagada.

The Council helmsman, Hon. Adeniyi Saliu was full of praise to God Almighty for yet another electoral promises fulfilled. In his Keynote address, Saliu pointed that his government since inception was convinced and quick to embark on large scale entrepreneurship and  job creation drive. He said these were the twin battle fronts through which poverty and hunger can be defeated.

Dear young compatriots, we recognize today how much the world has changed, therefore we are determined to prepare you and others for the future by training you to create jobs for yourselves and be employers of labour, Saliu emphasized.

To the surprise of the parents, party leaders, families and well wishers at the event, Hon. Saliu empowered  each of the graduands with full Vocational Start-up equipments in the various acquired skills and announced the grant of the sum of One hundred thousand naira (#100,000) each and take-off grant to each of the graduands. These he said would automatically enable the graduands to be self-dependent and start their individual businesses.

He also thanked the management of NOIC for the honor accorded his government by making the programme a success and  also acknowledged the agency's wonderful job of shaping the lives of Nigerian youths over the years. He promised that another batch of trainees would soon be sent to the centre for the second phase of the program.

Hon. Adeniyi Saliu also dolled out Cash empowerment to 50 aged people and widows to support and give them sense of belonging in his government.

In the same vain, Hon. Adeniyi Saliu in his usual character gave employment to Mrs. Adebowale Bidemi from Iraye with a Cheque of One hundred thousand naira (#100,000) only, to support. Mrs. Adebowale Bidemi who abandoned her 3 weeks baby at a black spot few weeks ago due to hunger and inability to take care of the fatherless baby and herself.

Speaking on behalf of the Nigeria Opportunities Industrialization Centre, Alhaji Babajide Eko FCA, assured the Council of their readiness to receive and also train the next batch of the youths.

Each of the graduands was also awarded with Diploma certificate from the Nigeria Opportunities and Industrialization Centre, Gbagada (NOIC), Lagos.

Notable leaders and traditional rulers at the event admonished the young graduands to make the Council proud by taking full advantage of this golden opportunity. Also reacting to the epoch making event, Alhaji Akanni Seriki, Hon. Wasiu Odeyemi, Former first Lady of Lagos State, Lady Doja Otedola among others appealed to the graduands not to sell the equipments but make good use of it. They charged them to be industrious in their choose vocations.

Reacting on behalf of the graduands, Miss Quadri Rihanat of Fashion and Textile designing said she was yet to believe what was done to her and her colleagues. Honestly, this is unbelievable, only God can reward our chairman, Hon. Saliu, Rihanat said.

Some of the eminent dignitaries at the event include the former first Lady of Lagos State, Lady Doja Otedola. The G.A.C member from Epe and APC leader, Lagos East Senatorial leader, Alhaji Akanni Seriki, Hon. Sylvester Oluwaseun Ogunkelu member Lagos State House of Assembly representing Epe Constituency II. Hon. Wasiu Ayo Odeyemi, APC Leader Epe Constituency II. Hon. Lanre Odubote former member House of representatives. Hon. Adesanya Adedoyin, the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Chief Ganiu Olayemi the pioneer Chairman Eredo LCDA, Hon. Sabiu Omolaja Adelaja the immediate past Chairman of the Council and APC State Welfare Officer Alhaja Ramota Bankole.

Also in attendance were Eredo Royal Fathers, His Royal Majesty Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja, the Aladeshonyin of Odo-Noforija. His Royal Highness Oba Kolawole Aileru, the Alade-Uraka of Poka and His Royal Highness Oba Mufutau Ogunnukan the Aladegbajo of Odogbawojo. Also were Alhaji Mohammed Agbaraojo, APC LGA Chairman, Eredo. Alhaji Kehinde Adesanya, APC LGA Chairman, Epe. Executive members of the Council led by Hon. W. Taiwo. The legislative arm of the Council led by Hon. Lateef Okesanya. League of Imams & Alfas, Representatives of Christian Association of Nigeria. Market men and women, Community Development Associations, Parents of the graduands, party members among others.
