...Exonerate Ekiti First lady

A socio cultural and political group in Ekiti State, Progressives Youth Alliance (PYA), has warned the opposition party, the People's Democratic Party against playing politics with the precious lives of the dead undergraduates of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti(FUOYE).

The group stated that playing dangerous politics with the students whose lives were cut off at the primes under a controversial and immensely painful circumstances, had further corroborated the widespread belief that the PDP represents evil.

Two students of the university were on Tuesday killed during a violent protest by FUOYE students, leading to attack on the convoy of Mrs Fayemi while touring the 16 Local government for empowerment programme.

In a statement in Ado Ekiti on Friday by its Coordinator, Dr. Taiwo Ogunlade, PYA said it was utterly distasteful and saddening for Lere Olayinka, the  Media Aide to former Governor Ayodele Fayose, to have wrongfuly and maliciously fingered Ekiti First Lady, Erelu Bisi Fayemi as being responsible for the shooting of the two students, even when students only blamed it on the police alleged oversealousness.

The group was reacting to the dangerous allegation raised by Olayinka that Mrs Fayemi actually ordered the shooting of the students, which actually did not have any strand and  scintilla of credibility .

PYA stated that the students of the university, through the President of the Students union government, Seun Awodola, had critically and painstakingly dissected the  situation and inferred that the situation could have been managed well, but for police oversealousness.

Ogunlade stated that it was sad and  appalling, that Olayinka out of mischief, unwarranted bellicosity and morbid hatred decided to ignore the facts contained in Awodola's statement, which didn't indict Mrs Fayemi of complicity in the highly painful killing.

"We are scandalised  by the malicious news being spread by Fayose's Aide, Lere Olayinka and his team. We viewed this as a desperate attempt to discredit the laudable assistance and enlightenment that the wife of the Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi embarked on to promote and liberate women in Ekiti State by playing politics with the unfortunate incident that occurred in Oye Ekiti when the students of Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) were protesting power outage and coincidentally the governor's wife was on a visit to the town to meet women in the local government.

"As discerning individuals and group, The allegation was spurious and unfounded as Mrs Fayemi will never sponsor or organise attack on any citizen talk less of students she has been known to support time without numbers, because she has a rich background of activism and humanism, which have been globally acknowledged.
"It is necessary to remind people with low retentive memory like Lere Olayinka that recently, Erelu Bisi Fayemi single handedly paid the bill of a medical student in Ekiti State University to enable her complete her medical programme and has now graduated.

"The Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi also offered all the 43 graduates of the Ekiti State University College of Medicine automatic jobs.

"One wonders how a family with propensity for such kind-heartedness could suddenly turn around and  sponsored violence or attack against Nigeria's future leaders.

"It is better they changed gear and contrived more convincing lies for this one had fallen on deaf ears, because every Nigerian and global community knew Bisi Fayemi as a lover of scholarship.

"We don't think it would be easy for a military dictator like Gen Sanni Abacha or a highly splenetic and  violent politician like Ayodele Fayose to  order security to open fire on a protesting students let alone a refined, cultured and scholarly personality like Erelu Bisi Fayemi.

"Nigerians must ignore Lere Olayinka and his ilk. They should stop dancing on the graveyards of these unfortunate students, so that their spirits can rest in the bosom of the Lord", PYA advised.

Ogunlade restated that the group had conducted independent findings and realised that Mrs Fayemi had been briskly whisked out of the beleaguered spot before the crisis escalated contrary to the lies being told by Olayinka and his e-rats.
